    Hi ph1962

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

OneDrive is Microsoft's online cloud storage service, where you can sync your local files and keep a backup copy that is accessible on other devices.

Office Live is a defunct service that likely was once a part of Office 2010 release and the Windows Live wave of services around 2006 to 2012. It no longer exists.

Today, you either save your files to the local documents folder in Office applications, to OneDrive or SharePoint (also known as OneDrive for Business).

Users also have the option of saving to other services such as Dropbox or Google Drive and many others.

It would be more than safe to copy those files out of Office Live, its actually recommended, since that is how Microsoft prefers users store their files. You still have complete control though over where you want your files stored. But, in terms of online services, it should be in OneDrive.

Glad I was able to provide some clarification. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Incredible!  An independent "Answer Person" that answers the question that was asked.  Complete, lucid, and anticipated and answered the logical next question.  You get 5 stars +.

A couple of related questions, though.  Although defunct some files seem to be being saved to the office live documents folder.  All but one are OneNote files that stopped being updated in 2017, but there is one in 2018 and a .doc file from 1/20/2019.  Just wondered if it would be safe to copy all the old office live documents to the OneDrive Documents folder?  I relay on OneNote for just about everything I need to remember.

    Again, thank you!!!
