Windows 10 has stopped seeing HP OfficeJet 6500 printer

Running Windows 10 on an HP Envy 700 Tower pc.  My HP officejet 6500 is hooked up directly via usb cable.   Ever since the Windows 10 update in February 2019, Windows 10 keeps showing my printer has offline.  I have to reinstall the entire HP software (OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5) to get the printer working.

Today, Windows doesn't see the printer again.  I deleted my printer from Windows, deleted all HP software, rebooted pc, power cycled printer, and then reinstalled the OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5 software.   Windows 10 still won't see the printer.

It's the not the USB cable, it's not the USB port, it's not the printer.  It's something in Windows 10 that got updated.   Please tell me how to resolve this.

Thank you.

    Hello,

What is the exact version of W10 (winver command) ?

    What is your antivirus ?

1- Right click on Start Button, then select "Windows PowerShell (admin)" or "Command Prompt (admin)"

2- Now repair any damage in the system files, by running this commmand

    sfc /scannow

3- Then restore the System Health by running this command

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

My pc is an HP Envy 700 PC series.  Full model number is 700-230qe.

When I ran diag_devicec, it said "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem"

When I ran diag_printer10, it said the same thing - "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem"

The only logon to this computer is Admin.  So I have full privileges.

    Hi Gary

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Did you download the latest driver for your model to see if it helps?

Please try the steps recommended below to uninstall printer software

Option 1: Run the Printer Troubleshooter - http://aka.ms/diag_printer10

If you are using an HP Printer, use the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

HP Print and Scan Doctor - HP Support

    https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c02073861

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

    Open Start

    Type: cmd

    Right click CMD

    Click Run as administrator

    At the command prompt, type:

    net user administrator /active:yes

    Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Check if the printer works in that account.

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:
