I can't connect to any external servers on Minecraft

The game itself runs fine and I have no problems playing any of the recommended servers attached to the game but whenever I try to find a new server to try it won't connect.

After trying to "connect to external server" it says "unable to connect to world". Again this happens to every server I try except for the pinned ones in the servers menu

This might not be your problem but: If you bought the game on a pc from Microsoft, you got an xbox live version (windows 10) of Minecraft which is Minecraft Pocket Edition for servers. Most servers are Java Edition servers so you have to explicitly search for PE (Pocket Edition) servers.

Also most PE server have a 19132 port number which will be your default port number if you have the PE version.

If you have a Jave ED 25565 should be your default port number if you have the "traditional" Minecraft.

    TL:DR version

If you bought minecraft after 2017 on windows,

Look for "minecraftPE" servers explicitly marked by 19132 port number's.

I have this same exact issue.

I can connect to the featured servers without fail, but any other external servers I've been trying to join just won't connect.

I have no issues connecting to external servers on my Mac using the same connection information on the same network, it's solely my Windows machine that's having issues.

I can connect to the external server in a browser, my firewall allows incoming/outgoing connections (also if it were my firewall, why would it allow featured servers but not others?), I just don't know what the issue is.

I reinstalled the game and still the same result. I am playing on Minecraft for Windows 10

Again I can connect to any of the pinned servers but whenever I try to join a new server with a play type that I enjoy it fails to connect
