Method 1: Start the WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) service
a. Click on Start and then type Services.msc in the startup search box and press enter.
b. Double click on Windows Image Acquisition Service.
c. If the service is not started, then start the service.
d. Restart the computer and then check if it helps.
Method 2:
Step 1: Uninstall the already installed drivers and reinstall them.
To uninstall the drivers, refer the following link.

Step 2: You can also uninstall the drivers from the Device Manager. To do so, follow these steps.
a) Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
b) Look for the device and expand it. Now, right click on it and select Properties.
c) Click the Driver tab and click Uninstall. Restart the computer.
After the restart, Windows will automatically try to install the printer drivers.
If windows does not automatically install the drivers then you can download the latest driver from Canons website.
