Audio Balance Bug - Balance changes when changing volume

Hello forum,

So I have a weird bug that I cannot find anything on the internet for. Like the title says, when changing the volume (either with the keyboard or mouse), the left-right channels change with it. It's really odd, and it's happened in the past, but I don't know how I fixed it.

Essentially, I cannot get the volume to change without changing the balance. When I turn it up, the balance is almost centered, but it's obviously loud. The lower I turn it, the more Left the balance goes. For some reason, Windows doesn't allow me to lock the balance, so changes no matter what I do.

I'm running Windows 10, with a ASUS Xonar DG audio card. Any pointers would help greatly.

    Thanks for the quick reply Suman,

    Although I tried what you mentioned previous to you posting it here, it didn't solve anything. It's as if only one slider was working, causing the audio to change from right to left when turning it down.

    What I did manage to narrow it down to was indeed my soundcard / drivers, and not Windows itself. I found on another page that somebody else had the same problem, but instead of using the ASUS drivers, they used third-party drivers that are meant for the hardware.

    I don't know if I can post the link here, but here is the thread that I followed to get it fixed:

    https://www.infopackets.com/news/10456/how-fix-asus-xonar-wont-play-51-surround-sound-win10(With bonus options for 5.1 surround sound, which was also not working on the ASUS drivers.)

    For anyone else with this type of card, I recommend the Uni Xonar Drivers.

    *Edit: They work just as good if not better than the original drivers. I have no issues so far, and the balance problem has gone away.

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I understand that Balance changes when changing the volume, we reproduced the issue and found the same result.

    The balance slider will move according to the volume level. If you set a different balance and then try to change the volume, both the slider will move accordingly.

    Are you seeing any change in the balance when you change the volume? Does only one slider move or both the slider move?

    You can adjust the output left/right balance for your devices individually as follows:

    1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the tray (bottom right of screen) and choose "Playback devices";
    2. Right-click on the device you're using (that you want to adjust) and choose "Properties";
    3. Click on the "Levels" tab;
    4. At the right of the "Speakers/Headphones" area where you can adjust the volume, click on "Balance"; and
    5. Adjust the left (L) and right (R) balance sliders as you like.

    When you increase or decrease the volume the levels on both the balance should move respectively. If that is not the case please provide more information to assist you in a better way.

    Please provide me the Screenshot so we can assist on this issue.

    Refer this article How to include a screenshot in your post.

    Thanks,
