Help Removing Action Center.

I have Windows 10 version 1809 Pro 64-bit.

I have used the Group Policy Editor to enable the setting "User Configuration"  >> "Administrative" >> "Start Menu and Taskbar" >> "Remove Notifications and Action Center".

I then rebooted the computer.

The icon is still showing in the taskbar.

I then tried the Windows Home fix of using Registry Editor to add the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\DisableNotificationCenter (DWORD 1)

I then rebooted the computer.

The icon is still showing in the taskbar.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I want to remove both, and preferably something I can script, like registry keys.

    Explanation:

The company I work for has about 50 retail stores.  We do not want any notifications about modifying the computer to go to our store office computers, as most of those people are not technologically literate, and we use ConnectWise Automate to categorize those and control them.  I've managed to eliminate everything except firewall notifications (all of our stores are well protected through firewalls and DMZs, we do not need the individual PC firewall on as it impedes the functionality of our retail software).

I want to prevent these users from getting ANY pop-up notifications, and the firewall is the only one that I cannot seem to get rid of.

This was a good suggestion, but unfortunately it also did not resolve my issue. I am still getting the notification in the task bar:

    Sue,

I just noticed in your screenshot above, you have the Windows Security icon circled instead. This isn't the Action Center icon that would normally be just to the right of your Date and Time (clock).

Just to verify, did you want the Windows Security or Action Center icon removed?

    Hello Sue

Thank you for participating in the Microsoft Community, my name is G.Paz, I am an Independent Advisor.

In addition to the steps executed by regedit, I suggest you disable this feature from the System settings:

In the System window, click the “Notifications & actions”

On the right, click the “Turn system icons on or off” link.

Scroll down to the bottom of the list of icons you can turn on or off, and click the button to disable Action Center.

Then, executed a Windows update and restart you machine.

Let me know if the issue still continuous.

    Good luck on this process!!

    Hello Sue,

You would also need to set this at the HKLM location to fully apply when not using gpedit.msc.
