chrome screen went completely black after coming out of sleep. had used it ten minutes earlier

chrome went completely black. I tried turning off the hardware acceleration and then disabled any extensions. I only use one, ad block. the others were off. Then I relaunched after each of these two attempts but chrome home page still comes up black. I have HP laptop windows 10.

Should I use restore setting to their original? I don't want to try that until I hear back from the forum. The only thing that happened when screen went black Is that a pop up told me the ad plus blocker had crashed but it is not turned off. Thank you

    Hi Paula

Restart (not shut down) your PC

Check the functionality of Chrome . . .

If Chrome is still not functioning correctly, click the 3 dots at the top right of Chrome, choose Settings - Advanced Settings

Then at the very bottom of that page, choose to reset the Chrome Browser

If the Reset does not resolve this, uninstall chrome then download and install the newest version of chrome . . .

    Hi Paula

Yes, that 'Reset to Original Settings' is the option I was referring to . . .

    To Reinstall Chrome:

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Apps and locate Chrome in the list of Apps

Select Chrome and choose to uninstall it

    Restart your PC

Then, download and install the newest version of Chrome from this link:

    https://www.google.com/chrome

do you mean where it says "reset to original settings"?

    has this happened to you?

I have no idea how to uninstall and reinstall chrome. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.
