Hi Sebastiaan,
Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.
I understand how difficult it is, when the device doesn’t work in the way it should. For us to isolate the issue and to assist you better, we’d like to know more information on this.
- Is this issue system specific?
- Is it a brand new SSD?
- Is it showing up in Disk Management?
- Which build version of Windows 10 are you using?
We can try a few steps and check if we can fix this.
Method 1: Uninstall and reinstall the Universal serial bus controller.
- Press Windows key + R together to open Run.
- Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right click the SSD and click on Uninstall.
- Remove the SSD and restart your computer.
- Connect the SSD and see if it is showing up.
Method 2: Assign a drive letter.
There are chances that the drive letter may get lost. Follow the below steps to assign a drive letter and check.
- Press Windows key + R together to open Run.
- Type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.
- Right click the drive you want to change and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
- Click on Remove and follow the on screen instructions.
- Select a drive letter from the drop down and click on OK.
- Click on Yes.
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let us know the results at your earliest convenience.
