Error message 'Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded', when I try to download jriver

Hi Folks:

I'm trying to restore my license on jriver in order to upgrade to the latest version. In jriver, when I get a registration code that I'm supposed to click on to download, I get the "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded".

As far as I understand the jriver program uses my default web browser, which is firefox. But I also tried using edge with the same results. When I look up this problem on the net most people fix it by changing the security settings in Internet Explorer. I have Edge and Firefox for the web, but not Internet Explorer, though I know it is still part of the internal file system. Neither Edge or Firefox have any of the settings described in the fixes posted online, and Internet Explorer doesn't appear on my lists of apps or programs. How can I remedy this?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate your efforts to work on this issue.

Please answer these questions to get clarity on this issue:

    1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to this issue?
    2. Is the issue specific to this Jriver program?

I would like to let you know that Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer browsers are still an integral part of Windows 10.

Use Internet Explorer in Windows 10: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026136/windows-10-use-internet-explorer

Meanwhile, let us follow these methods and check if that helps.

Method 1: Suggest you to temporarily disable the antivirus security software to check if that helps. The steps to turn off antivirus or malware-prevention software depend on the software you’re using. Check the documentation for your software to learn how to turn it off.

Note: Make sure you turn it back on as soon as possible. Not having antivirus or malware-prevention software turned on makes your PC more vulnerable.

Method 2: Further, to change the security settings in Internet Explorer, follow the steps from this article.

Change security and privacy settings for Internet Explorer 11’.

You can also reset the Internet Explorer settings to default and check if that helps.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17441/windows-internet-explorer-change-reset-settings

Note: Be aware that this process isn't reversible, and all previous Internet Explorer settings are lost after reset.

You can also optimize the Microsoft Edge browser and check if that works for you.

Note: Repairing the Edge browser won't affect anything, but resetting will remove your history, cookies, and any settings you might have changed.

Method 3: As you are using the Firefox browser, you can also follow these steps on Firefox browser to check if that helps.

    1. Open Mozilla Firefox. Find Menu button (three bars) and click it.
    2. Open Add-ons section and open Extensions tab.
    3. Locate suspicious add-ons or extensions click Remove button next to each of them.
    4. Click Menu button again, then on “?” button and then select Troubleshooting Information.
    5. Click on Refresh Firefox on the right pane.
    6. To confirm the changes, click Refresh Firefox again.

Let us know the result of the steps performed so that we can help you further.

    Awaiting your reply.

    Regards,
