    Hi

My name is Lee; an Independent Consultant, I'm here to help you with your problem.

    Here is the steps

Is Minecraft for Windows 10 included with the purchase of Minecraft: Java Edition?

Players who have purchased Minecraft: Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 can get Minecraft for Windows 10 for free by visiting their Mojang account. Log into account.mojang.com, and under the “My Games” heading you will find a button to claim your gift code. If you purchased Minecraft: Java Edition after October 19th, 2018, the button will not be there, so if you’re unsure of when you purchased Minecraft: Java Edition, that’s a good way to check. Pressing the button will generate a token and send you to a Microsoft redemption page.

If you have an older Minecraft account (you still log in with your username), visit this article to find out about account migration. Once you’ve migrated your account, you will be able to claim a code for Minecraft for Windows 10.

You must be signed into a Microsoft/Xbox Live account in order to redeem the code. Please note that you cannot move the license once the code has been redeemed. Your code is saved on your Mojang account page for future reference.

I just bought a card for minecraft from walmart tonight that said specifically on the back the purchase includes a windows 10 edition code at redemption. After following instructions, it redeemed a java version but no where has it given anything relating to the windows 10 version. Sent an email to support  after finding this post, but apparently they are answering questions right now back from june (2 months ago). This is an unacceptable way to do business. Considering I have bought this game multiple times on so many platforms, i find the support available a little ridiculous. I bought it so we could play as a family and right now we cant do that.

Hello LaurenFitterman, I'm the publisher. This is quite an old post and in that time I've learned a little bit about Minecraft versions. If you would like to play with family I suggest getting the Bedrock Edition (aka Minecraft for Windows 10, Minecraft Pocket Edition, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) all platforms have cross-play, meaning you can play on Windows 10 and another family member can play on mobile while another can play on Xbox. Now keep in mind Minecraft Java Edition has cross-play only with another PC with Java Edition. Also Microsoft supports DLC, some free some not, skins and maps made by the community which in my opinion are really fun and fun for the famliy which Java Edition does not have. As of 10/19/18 Microsoft quit selling a "buy one get one free" and each edition has to be bought separate. On that note I suggest buying Bedrock Edition if your looking for something the family can play together. Also Nintendo offers split screen. Not sure if any other platform offers that. Hope that helps! Thanks for coming to the Microsoft community with you question/answer!

I have an minecraft java account from 2014, yes it is migrated, when I try to redeem the code for minecraft windows 10 edition it displays this error code: Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later! I have been trying to get a code everyday for at least two weeks, is there a problem with my account? Or is there just no more codes?
