AppData is a protected, hidden folder and generally cannot be searched. Enable hidden files and folders in File Explorer options if you want to search it.
search not working in appdata
I did try to bing this but all I saw was problems with the search in the task bar and my problem is with the file explorer
I have files located at appdata\roaming\…\history
There are a lot and I wanted to see those that had HPZ400 in the file name
File Manager said none where there. Using wildcard "*" didn't work either. That should have showed everything!
Search tools and options did not show anything useful like "[x] Uncheck this box if you want search to work here"
I assume I cannot search in appdata even if administrator.
My C# program that uses the open file dialog box has no problem with filters like "*.whatever" at this exact location, it's just the windows 10 file explorer or a problem between the chair and the keyboard that I cant seem to find.

2019-06-19T16:14:16+00:00 The files are all visible, just the search not working. I consider this a bug and not a feature. However, I do want to thank Microsoft for replacing my surface pro 4 with the bulging screen even though it was out of warrantee.

Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
Hope it Helps
