I have started getting this pop-up as well, followed by a page fault error and blue screen of death before I even have a chance to click on anything. I run Windows 10 Pro and have my updates delayed as much as possible to avoid unwanted problems from premature updates. Have no clue what the driver is or how is trying to update, and because of the page fault crash no chance get details.

    Hi Chandrashekhar,

Is this an automatic prompt you get occasionally or you are installing a driver intentionally?

An update. One culprit turned out to be Dell SupportAssist. This was a (the?) source of frequent "page fault in nonpaged area" and suspect was responsible for the "can't verify the publisher of this driver software issue in Windows 10". Spent close to two hours on phone with upper tier Dell support trying to get it uninstalled and reinstalled. During that time about half a dozen page fault crashes while he struggled to get it uninstalled and updated.

Look at Microsoft Store's reviews of the app. Not good.

That is great to know about Dell SupportAssist. Any Idea what to do about it at this point? I still get those pop-ups with no hint as to what driver is attempting to get installed.

Yeah, MS needs to LET US KNOW what the driver is. Assuming your system is a Dell. If you Google this, SupportAssist has problems. If you are able to run SupportAssist successfully -- in my case there were drivers it wanted to install -- then this may not be your problem; or it may be that running it manually successfully installing whatever drivers it thinks needs updating may fix the issue (different code path than letting it pop-up on its own). I kept getting this pop-up on a semi-regular basis, usually in the morning after powering up, which is all consistent w/ SupportAssist semi-regular scheduled runs.

Hi Chandra. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

Did you get the driver from your from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker?

Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

If so then you can go ahead.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
