Instructions say:   Open LittleWindows PNG -  Instructions say Open Control Panel and go to Default Programs > Set Programs.  Find Windows Photo Viewer in the list of programs, (can't find it) click it, and choose Set this program as default. This will set the Windows Photo Viewer as the default program for all file types I can open by default.

    Hello,

You can right click on PNG file, select Open with > Photos.

Note that Photos app came pre-installed with Windows 10. If you still can't find Photos app on your system, install it from Microsoft Store.

You can set Photos app as default app for .png files:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4028161/windows-10-change-default-programs

You can also enable Windows Photo Viewer, if you like, using this guide:

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Babs

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Here is another way you can do it.

Point to a PNG file in File Explorer

    Right click it

    Click Properties

Under the General tab, click Change

    Choose Photos

    Click OK

    Click Apply then OK

    Try opening the PNG files

If that does not work, right click the PNG file, click Open with, click Paint to see if it opens.

    Give this a try then:

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Windows PowerShell (Admin).

At the command prompt, type the following, hit Enter the restart.

    get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Check if it works, if not, you can try an alternative viewer such as the following:

    Get IrfanView - Microsoft Store

Hi Babs. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

Go into Settings > Apps > Default Apps > choose Photo Viewer and select Windows Photo app.

If that doesn't help then go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Select default by File type > .png files > choose Photos app.

One of those should do it. Control Panel is being phased out in Windows 10 so we use Settings now.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Thank YOU for your feedback.

I'm not able to download the files from the email message.

When I attempt to open the Download the Photos screen states

    image003.png

It looks like we don't support this file format

    Warm Regards,

    W and  P

Have you tried a right click on the PNG photo and then Open with? What apps do you have showing? Photos should be one of  them.

You can go to Settings. See example image below.
