I'm done trying to make a Windows 10 compatible WI-FI card work in Windows 10 with the proper Windows 10 drivers.
Whatever Microsoft screwed up in the creators update early last year that screwed my original wi-fi card and made this one to where it won't work, is still not fixed. They have had a year at least to fix it and no fix.
With the latest Windows 10 driver which was released late last year, the device fails to start and gives Code 10.
With the previous driver (may be a basic Windows driver) the card does work, but whenever I try to connect to a network (if it shows any) I can see device manager refresh as though I did a manual scan for hardware changes and it of course causes the attempted connecting to fail and usually reverts to showing no WI-FI networks at all even though I'm less than 6 feet from my own cable modem with built in WI-FI.
Troubleshooter is just as helpful as it's always been as it identifies it as a driver issue even though it cannot be that.
I would love to see Microsoft make a troubleshooter that identifies the actual problem as in what specifically is the exact failure AKA verbose results for those of us who can fix computers. A simple message of driver issue isn't enough.
The only thing I can think of is all the extra unnecessary WI-FI stuff they added during that creators update is what's causing the problem. Reason I say it is unnecessary is because my WI-FI was working just fine before that update.
Then again it seems like most Windows problems are caused by unnecessary things added or changed by an update.
Oh also Bluetooth functionality of this card is not working either even though the proper driver is installed.
Not exactly sure how the bluetooth works unless it requires something the 2009 Dell's WI-FI card slot doesn't have.
It also just identified the problem as a router or access point problem, but I just checked and my desktop and phone connect just fine.
