Hi. I would like to ask how to format my HP with Windows 7 Ultimate? I no longer have the hard copy of the key, but when I check it under Computer, Properties, it lacks digits. And by the way, my DVD Drive is not reading the disc too.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Have a closer look at the sticker using a LED torch and Magnifying glass.

Move the light source to different angles as there may be a possibility of making out Key if not rubbed off all together.

With the DVD Drive they do have a tendency to fail.

Check with some other DVD`s to see if they read.

If they do it may well be a damaged disc which it could no longer read.

This is where it would have been:

The COA sticker is either on the underside of the Laptop or in the Battery Compartment.

With a Desktop it is either on the side, rear or top of the Computer Case.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Manufacturers have a Recovery partition imaged on the hard drive to reinstall which should auto-reactivate.

Here are the Key/s to press at Boot to reinstall the operating system (new condition).

HP – Press F11 repeatedly at Boot

You can also make your own recovery disks to keep from that recovery partition

    Cheers.
