I am buying a new computer and have always used Windows home.  Found a good price on a Dell, but it has Windows Pro.  Any downside or big difference I should now about between the two? I do not need Pro, but that is what comes on the pc.

Thanks

    Hi 876yui

There is no downside to having the Pro Edition of Windows 10

There are a few added features in the Pro edition, which most users will never use, those will not interfere with Windows 10 is you never use them

BitLocker - used to encrypt your drives, contents

RDP, you can initiate a Remote Desktop Connection from Windows 10 pro

Device Guard - limit the applications that can be installed

Honestly, as a private user, you can use either Windows 10 Home or Pro and if you do get the Pro version, don't use any of those extra features, they are not needed in the consumer market . . .

    Hi Yui,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Windows 10 Pro has more features as compared to Windows 10 Home, notably more control over the updates and BitLocker(an encryption utility). Performance-wise, both are the same. Go for Pro without a doubt as it costs 99$ to upgrade from Home to Pro.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi 876yui

Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Pro has many additional features compared to Home. At the worst, it doesn't have any downside. If you want to know about those additional features -
