If you are going to be inserting the picture into a Word document, I would suggest using a Caption to add the photo credit or a text box in Word.
putting text on picture using Paint and then changing text font/color/placement
I can get the text onto the picture opened in Paint (using the text box), but I can't figure out how to change the color or point size. I can't "grab" the text box to make the changes. I can't even get the box with the text in it to go away so I can try something else! R-click doesn't work; nor L-click. Trying to highlight the text itself just opens another text box. If I manage to highlight the text so I can change color, the color change doesn't happen! Eraser just removes the image.
All I want to do is add a photo credit of 2 words. And move it around, change font size, change font color if I didn't guess correctly!
I have been using a looooong workaround by just closing that iteration and opening the same graphic again and trying the change I wanted to make the first time. There has to be an easier method!
Thx, all.

2019-05-03T21:59:52+00:00 Paint is a very old, very basic application. I too could not select the text box again after leaving it.
I did find that I could remove the text box using the Undo, CLT Z, command.
When entering text in a textbox if you want to change the font color and/or size, you have to make those changes BEFORE typing your text.
I use an image editor program called IrfanView. It allows me to add a single text box that I can return to and change the text size color.
There are other free image editors you could try. One is Paint.net. It appears to have a similar problem about not selecting text after leaving it. But that may be worked around if you take advantage of the "layers" feature.
Here is a list of some of the alternatives to paint. Give them a try to find one that you can work with
