    *******

I have tried all the above steps and nothing worked for me. I was using the AMOS 19 before but then I installed SPSS 25 version and wanted to install AMOS 24 or 25 version. For that, I uninstalled AMOS 19 version. when I tried to install new AMOS 24 and 25, I got the error message which I posted above in the opening thread.

MY SPSS is working fine but I am unable to install AMOS now, I tried many versions like 18, 19, 22, 23 and 25 version but unable to install, the installation wizard failed to start after few moments. I also uninstalled SPSS and then I try to install AMOS but same problem. I then installed SPSS again and that is working fine. The problem is with the AMOS only.

I am using Dell Inspiron with windows 10 home singe language 64 bit OS original windows with the latest updates.

Please help me! Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you for your reply with the status of the issue.

    1. What is the complete error message that you’ve received when you try to install IBM AMOS?
    2. Is this issue occurring only with the installation of this IBM AMOS version 25?
    3. Were you able to install other applications?

Usually Error 87 in Windows 10 occurs because of typing wrong commands into the command prompt black window.

I see that you have missed out “n” in cleanup-image while using the command. I suggest you to run this command again and check the status of the issue.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

If the issue is persisting only with the installation of IBM AMOS version 25, I suggest you to get in touch with the IBM support for the further assistance.

    Hope it helps.

I have even tried reinstalling Windows 10. Immediately after the installation and updating was finished, I tried to install and encountered the same issue as described in the OP.

    Hello Muralidhar,

Thanks so much for your willingness to assist. I will first answer the questions you posed before describing what happened as a result of attempting each fix.

    1. My first attempt at install was 2/18/2019. I encountered the same problem as described in the original post. Since then I have tried numerous things like installing in safe mode and installing after unregistering, then reregistering, msiexec. Each attempt was met with the same error.
    2. I have tried installing while connected to an open wifi channel and while connected to a university network. In both cases I receive the same error.
    3. I do not get an error code for this. The install stops, and a textbox shows up with the same text as found in the OP between the dashed lines.
    4. I am running Windows 10 Pro - Version 1809 - Build 17763.16

    Results of suggested methods

    ****Method 1: No difference

Method 2: The start type was manual. The option to change this was inaccessible. I tried changing this through command prompt, which was run as an administrator and it said access was denied. I was able to start the service though. After which, I attempted the install and received the same error.

Method 3: I had tried running both commands separately, as was suggested in a previous forum entry, restarting, and then installing. This led to the same error. I then tried putting them on the same line as you suggested. I received the error immediately after executing that command.

Method 4: The article says for Windows users with versions newer than Windows 7 to use the DISM tool to create a reference with the following command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleaup-image /Restorehealth

When I ran that command, I encountered error 87 "The cleanup-image option is unknown"

I ran the sfc /scannow tool anyway. I was told that Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. I attempted to restart and install. I encountered the same error during install.

I'm very grateful for your continued assistance!
