I own HP PROBBOK 440 G4 running windows 10. My issue is that sometimes while deleting any folder from my (generally video folders) it says you need to need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder and when i press continue new dialog box pop up says you require permission from DESKTOP-JFM5OAT\*****(my account name) to make changes to this folder. i keep trying again and it  keeps happening and the problem here is , there  is only one user on my laptop which is myself and i am the administrator of the pc(as i can see from the control panel). please help, what should i do.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you get an error while deleting a folder, we will look into this for you. However, please reply with the following details:

    • Does this issue occur only when deleting files/folders inside a specific folder?
    • Is the computer connected to a domain network?

You may try giving full permission to the folder and see if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Right Click on the folder that you want to delete and select Properties.
    2. Click on Security tab.
    3. Click on Edit.
    4. Click on Add, type Everyone and click on Check Names.
    5. Under groups, click on Everyone and select the check box for Full Control Allow under Permissions.
    6. Click on Apply and OK. Try deleting the folder.

For additional information, you can also refer the article "Access Denied" or other errors when you access or work with files and folders in Windows.

Note: The above article is for Windows 7 and 8 but holds good for Windows 10.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.

    Regards,

1.Does this issue occur only when deleting files/folders inside a specific folder?-- NO , it happens at local c/d randomly.

2.Is the computer connected to a domain network?-- well, i am connected to wifi.

and for the steps that you mentioned , i  have provided full access to users and others, but it worked for that moment and issue started occurring again. So dont know whats causing it.
