Why is this update constantly appearing in Windows Update

Synaptics - Mouse - 9/19/2018 12:00:00 AM - 19.2.17.70

Every time I start my Laptop this update is waiting to be installed.

Despite doing so each time it appears in updates. Also I downloaded this update from MS and installed and yet the update still appears on start-up. Also I uninstalled the driver in device mgr and restarted the laptop. Deleted all within SoftwareDistribution and yet still appears.

But this update keeps appearing to be installed. Adding the mouse using the touchpad is not as it should be having to tap hard to function.

How can I stop/cure this.

Running Windows 10 v1809 build 17763-437

Dell Inspiron 15-3552 64 bit

    Thanks,

But despite doing all as suggested.

    Synaptics - Mouse - 9/19/2018 12:00:00 AM - 19.2.17.70

This still appears at every startup even after updating to V1903.

Checking the update list, each time it says its been successfully installed.

    Yet it still appears.

Hi Commonone, I'm Graeme, an independent adviser here to help.

Firstly, I would see if the troubleshooter fixes the issue. Click Start and type "troubleshoot" then select the first result. Scroll down and choose Windows Update. This may help.

Otherwise, you could run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/402732...

Also, try resetting the Windows Update components manually by following these steps:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/971058...

If none of the above helps, please let me know and I'll see what else we can try! Thanks!

Hi Common. I"m Greg, an installation specialist, 9 year Windows MVP and Independent Advisor, here to help you.

Is this for a touchpad (which always needs latest driver) or mouse software?

I'd block the driver so it doesn't bother you any more. It should be resolved when you install the next version Update and all previous Updates are rolled in. If not manually Update your Synaptics drivers from the PC or device's Support Downloads web page.

To block the driver see here:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi there! Evan here, an independent adviser! I hope I can assist you today.

Please change your active update hours to right now. This will allow the update to install properly.

If this doesn't help, you will need to restart the computer in safe mode, delete the update...if you still have issues, or do not want to go this route...please attempt to download the troubleshooter:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/....

Follow the prompts to download the troubleshooting tool for updates.

If this fixes your problem, please let us know and deem this question completed! Thanks!
