Hi...help !!

today I went to log into my Microsoft HOTMAIL account through favourites and a new screen came up stating I needed to open a new OUTLOOK.COM account

which I did as there was no way to log into my old account this being a new account I have of course lost everything and I do not want this account.

How do I get into my old HOTMAIL account, even if I try to open it through Bing the same new screen comes up and it puts me into the

new OUTLOOK account .  I am using windows 7

    Hi Peter

Good news, all is fixed, they rang me before I even had to try the tedious phone approach.  I didn't even have to change my password.  It was almost too easy I had to open my internet which brings up the Google browser, from there clicked on my email account in my favourites and up came the new Microsoft outlook web page still suggesting to open an outlook.com account but this time it had a SIGN INbox at the top ( did ask if he was aware if any changes had been made to the web page since last week but he couldn't confirm that)  the sign in box of course allowed me to log in with my Hotmail account.  I did give him access to my computer to fix my auto logins which had all dropped out.  He said that this could happen again sometime in the future if the system thought security was compromised somehow but would only have to log in manually again to fix.

Unfortunate that you had a lot more hassle than me.

Seems all this  stress could have been avoided if the SIGN IN box had been on the web page last week!

    thanks again and regards

    Trudy

    Hi Trudy,

The phone number is freephone, so shouldn't be any charge. The call centres are India, Philippines or West Africa who have trouble understanding the issue. I have now been pushed around to 10 different agents from outlook to msn. Who have the same prompts and are the same company Microsoft.

I have now written a formal complaint to the UK CEO of Microsoft, but don't hold up much hope, judging from blogs.

All contacts are difficult. However, if you type 'how can I complain to Microsoft?' a link should appear. Hopefully this may help. I have spent days trying to solve this issue. There is probably a quick fix, but nobody wants to investigate properly.

All the very best in the quest of accessing your email, and I hope it is not as time consuming and frustrating as what I have endured.

Let me know if you have any success.

    Best wishes.

    Peter

    Hi Peter

Thanks for the info and advice, I will continue with this tomorrow and see how far I get with a phone call.

By pure chance I did get into my Hotmail account on my laptop only because to put my first post on this forum I had to log in, when the login box came up on the new OUTLOOK it contained a comment "log in with another email address" which I clicked on and put in my HOTMAIL login so now I can access my emails and documents etc.  I have not closed it or logged off my computer since but this can't continue and the issue needs to be resolved.  Fortunately my phone and tablet still have Hotmail emails but not the documents of course.

I'll let you know of any progress.

    regards

    Trudy

Looking at the reply from Peter I doubt that calling Microsoft support will solve the problem, not only that  I am in Australia, do I really want the expense of calling the USA??  Where is the support in my country ??!!

I have the same problem as Trudy. However, I am windows 10. I contacted microsoft support and passed from microsoft to msn and back again. Follow prompts to reset passwords etc...etc... no solution. I can log into msn email on other devices but I desperately need to access on my work lap top, because of correspondence. I have spoken to 7 different handlers on phone and chat, who repeat same instructions after I have repeated countless times the issue. ALL handlers look at the general script, then pass you on, then they close down the issue as completed...it is not!

I have repeatedly stated that my new pc and smartphone cannot access my msn email. Both devices are linked via new outlook account, I can access msn email by any other device. It it blindingly obvious that it is a Outlook/Microsoft issue. To which one call handler stated you need a Independent IT specialist as it is not outlook/Microsoft. When I argued that it would still come back to being an outlook/microsoft issue, the handler forwarded me to a call back (queue 5 minutes) which I never received.

Why is it only call centres in Asia with limited information for these issue without having a direct line to a engineer who recognises the fault and can help?

I welcome any help with this issue.

    Thanks

    Peter
