SSD showing up as a microsoft storage space device

Hello

About a week ago my laptop stopped working, because my 512gb Samsung ssd 840 Pro series hard drive failed somehow. I moved the drive to my desktop pc, and found that it had had its partitions deleted somehow. I downloaded multiple applications to save some of my personal data from the drive, with the intention of formatting the drive and reinstalling windows on it.

I formatted the drive succesfully and put it back in my laptop. I booted from my usb drive containing a windows media creation tool and installed windows on the ssd. However, my laptop refuses to boot from the ssd.

I ran diskpart on command prompt, and it shows my ssd as a "microsoft storage space device". Also the drive's type shows up as "spaces". My working ssd on my desktop pc shows up by its own name and its type is "ATA". I think this is why the drive can't be used as a boot drive, am I right? I really don't know.

I have run out of patience, please help me! I wan't to install windows on this drive.

Thank you!

Hi Lomppu, so how do you format the ssd properly after the update? Since I have the same problem that my Samsung 860 QVO 1TB shows 'microsoft storage space device', and I want to fix it, can you help me? Thanks

Hi, to fix this go to storage spaces, delete the pool and all storage spaces and then create a volume with disk management.

    Hello!

    Thank you for your responses.

It turns out that the newest update of windows 10 had added a feature, that converted all formatted drives to ”microsoft storage space devices” by default. I only had to format the drive again with different settings to get it working.

    Thank you for your help.

The ssd drive showing up as a microsoft storage space device instead of a boot drive is an internal drive.

HI I Hear that the summer update failed. But did you tell me whether that machine's hard drive or external?

However,  disconnect the cable other than the device 1 PC Disc ("SSD" or "HHD") Then place the Internet connection with the cable / as well as the specified device boot from the control panel for charging 6t Then download  :    https://www.microsoft.com/en -GB / software-download / Windows 10

Choose your version (home os pro) Wots load in yor device .  Remember after that check for updates on them is 3 or 4 after they restart the machine again.
