Add Network Location - CMD / Command Line

Is there a way to "add a network location" in CMD?

The wizard tool allows for path renaming, I'd like to run a one line command similar to 'net use' that creates the share location without the drive limiter. Has anyone come across a command to do so?

I believe the wizard has been around since Windows Vista, I'm not certain if additional commands were added for CMD (as admin).

Hello,

Please refer the answer of this thread:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30912161/add-new-network-location-not-map-network-drive

Also, see if this helps you:

https://devblogs.microsoft.com/scripting/how-can-i-create-a-shortcut-in-my-network-places/

For the script in above mentioned link:

  • Copy the code into a Notepad file
  • Click File menu & choose SaveAs
  • Surround the file name in double quotes including the extension (") Example "Network Place Scrript.vbs"
  • In the File Types choose All Files
  • Click the Save button

Hope this helps!

There's a big difference. I'm limited to the number of letters in the alphabet minus the 5 or so consumed by Windows. With bookmarks, I could have 120 remote devices/ftp shares not consuming drive letters.

If there's a wizard, there ought to be a way to set these up programmatically, right?

Thank you Lee but this is not about mapping a network drive.

This is Adding a "Network Location".

    Shawn,

You're correct that this link shows me how to map a network drive, however; that's not the question.

This is about creating a "Network Location" in command line.

    Hi

My name is Lee; an Independent Consultant, I'm here to help you with your problem.

You can try using this command where "s" is the letter of the drive and "\" is the network location

Conclusion it will see letter s on your computer map to your drive

    net use s: \\tower\movies

    Thanks
