The iastorac.sys (17.0), which is a loaded driver (the driver being used) should not block the update but if there is iastora.sys at a lower version in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder the iastora.sys, which should not be a loaded driver (not being used) may block the update.

Can you go the the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder and check to see if there is an iastora.sys

If found can you right-click the iastora.sys in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder and rename the iastora.sys to iastora.old

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer afterwards.

    Then try the update again.

Hi I'm Peter an independent advisor,
Microsoft has placed a compatibility hold on Windows 10 devices that prevents them from upgrading to Windows 10 1903 if they are using older Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers. This is because certain versions of the software could cause Windows 10 to crash or not operate properly in version 1903.

If a Windows 10 user has Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) driver versions between 15.1.0.1002 and 15.5.2.1053 installed, Windows 10 will not upgrade to version 1903 which is why you are seeing the error.

Microsoft has stated that Intel RST driver versions 15.5.2.1054 or later are compatible and will remove the block and allow the Windows 10 1903 to proceed. For those devices using these drivers, Microsoft recommends that you use version 15.9.6.1044 of the driver even though newer drivers exist.

    Hi adarshm93

Microsoft and Intel are aware of an issue that has surfaced with Intel RST and the 1903 update. Intel released version 17.5.1.1021 to resolve this issue on 7/10/2019

However, that update was not successful and Intel RST is still blocking the 1903 update on most systems . .

Microsoft and Intel continue to work on a fix for this bug, until they do come up with a working fix, it is best not to update to version 1903, because it will continue to fail . . .
