My Calendar items have disappeared

After installing Windows 10 version 1903 yesterday virtually all of my entries in My Calendar have disappeared. Unfortunately I hadn't backed them up, so this was the only source I had for past and future appointments. They weren't syncing to iCloud, although it seems I can do that now, but I've no idea how/if I can retrieve the old appointments. I'd rather avoid a system restore. V grateful for any help - v worrying.

Incidentally 1903 installed itself on my laptop last week. I was closing down for an urgent meeting and it took FIFTY minutes, and that was with a very high speed wifi. Why doesn't Microsoft give you the option on closing down to install now or later?

Where you using a Microsoft account to log in or a local account? Are you speaking of the built-in Calendar app or some other calendaring app?

Thanks Brian. I wonder if the issue is not the Windows 10 update, but an update to Office 365? I see that version 1907 came out for Office 365 from 29 July, and it’s certainly the case that visually Outlook changed at roughly the same time as the Windows update.

As I explained previously, the Archive folder in Outlook was empty, but I discovered the missing calendar in the Archive folder when accessing my gmail via the web. As I also said, I moved the missing Calendar into a new folder in my Outlook inbox (as well as saving as MBOX files). I can open these entries now.

Importing MBOX into Outlook doesn’t look too hopeful, since most of the hits I get imply that it’s aimed at moving emails, as opposed to calendars. However, I will explore.

I'm using the Calendar folder located within Outlook. As said, immediately after the latest Windows 10 update, virtually all my Calendar entries disappeared. I later discovered the Calendar in an Archive file, but that was only by checking my gmail via the Google web application. I'm not using an MS account to log into Windows, and I wasn't even aware that Windows 10 had a Calendar app. So ... given all this, and that I have at least saved the Calendar in an MBOX format, how do I get it reinstalled into MS Outlook please? Thanks.

I'm still unsure whether you were using the Calendar folder located within Outlook or the built-in Windows calendar app. If the former, updating Windows shouldn't have much effect if Office is still installed and your accounts configured within Outlook. Updating Windows should also be fairly gentle with the built-in apps, as well, but I can imagine the Windows 10 calendar app would be more prone to being affected by a Windows update. Are you using a Microsoft account to log into Windows? If so, the Windows 10 Calendar app should sync with the Microsoft cloud and preserve the events.

Thanks Brian. I'm using Outlook as part of Office 365, configured for Gmail. The Calendar concerned was under My Calendar, kept on my PC, which runs Windows 10. There was nothing in the Bin folder under the 'tree' for my email address. Nor anything in the Archive folder. However, having checked my gmail through the Google website, I discovered the entire Calendar to be in the Archive folder there. I've copied it into a new folder of my Outlook email, and downloaded the Calendar into two separate MBOX files on my PC. However, while I see from the Outlook File menu that it’s possible to import a Calendar in .ics or .vcs formats, it doesn’t given an option for Mbox. Do you have any suggestions please as to how to reinstall My Calendar from the files found in the Google Archive folder?
