Ive been trying to install the latest Windows update but get stopped during installation with the error stating the inbox storage driver iastora.sys doesn't work on these systems and it directs me to Intels sight to update RST.  I have the latest version yet I still get the error.  See below for my current version of RST which is Intels latest.

I have tried the download tool on Microsofts website to no avail.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Chris

    Hi,

If you have updated the Inter RST driver there may be a non functioning driver, the iastora.sys , in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers that is blocking the update.

Go to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder and look for an iastora.sys

If found right-click the iastora.sys in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder and rename the iastora.sys to iastora.old

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer afterwards.

    Then try the update again.

    Hi Chris,

Microsoft and Intel are aware there is a compatibility block on version 1903 and any PC running Intel RST

Intel initially released version 17.xx to resolve this bug, however, that did not resolve the bug

Microsoft and Intel continue to work to resolve this issue, so for the moment there is nothing you can do and indeed you should not install the 1903 update until they have patched this bug . .

Hi Chris. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 10 year Windows MVP here to help you.

See bulletin on this from Microsoft here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/451415...

If you locate the needed driver, I would manually upgrade to the latest version 1903 by opening the Media Creation Tool from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m..., choose Download Tool Now, then open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This saves your files, apps and most settings in place, is the most stable method to change versions, brings your Updates current, resolves most problems.

If any problems report back the verbatim error and number, then continue with these steps for overcoming Version Upgrade problems: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If the Version has problems I will work with you to try to resolve them. If the problems are intractable, you have ten days to roll it back in Recovery settings.

Most problems are resolved by doing this gold standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has millions of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki... . So read it over and see if its something you want to learn to do.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
