No announcements have been made regarding a Microsoft Movies & TV app for Smart TV's, iOS or Android devices.
Plans to add app to Samsung Smart TV
Samsung (and perhaps others) have smart TVS that allow me to watch movies I have purchased on Google, Amazon, and even Apple. These apps are dedicated to those services (no middle-ware needed like Movies Anywhere etc.).
Does Microsoft have any plans to do this?
To be blunt, if they do not I have no intention of ever purchasing digital movies through the Microsoft Movie store again.
Honestly there is no point. I am better off buying it on a competitor as I get access everywhere. If I buy it on Amazon for example I can even watch it on my XBox (although Microsoft seems to prevent purchasing directly on the XBox, but that is not the point).
I saw a this question (which is locked) but it provides a TERRIBLE solution.
First of all, it requires I use some app on my PC or mobile to stream directly to my TV. Secondly, this solution for some reason only works if wireless. Of course I want to WIRE my TV and system if possible so it is WIRED. I do not want to disconnect and go to wireless just to watch MS Movies.
This needs to be addressed. Honestly, how hard can it be. Like I said, all of the competitors have their movies and company owned apps right in the Samsung app store.
