STMicroelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver Causing Video Playback Issues?

Hi everyone, to keep things short I wil summarise the issue i had.

Initially I had the STMicroelectronic 3d Accelerometer driver installed however it started giving me a code 10(driver cannot start). As such, I replaced it with the driver listed in the title. But now I am unable to play videos offline(completely). I can still watch online videos but they are not smooth(initially it wasn't working well either but I improved it)

Can anyone suggest to me what I shall do? Because I am completely out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

note - I am not 100% sure if the new driver is the cause of the issue as I had a dell employee mess around with my laptop for hours with no result. It is a dell xps 15 9570.

Old driver seems to have installed automatically.

Hi, had the same installation problem with this STM and just solved it.

Deleted it as hardware including drivers. Rebootet. Loaded 2015 driver for win 10 64bit down from dell drivers and installed completely new (ignoring message that driver is already there and needed no update). Restart, OK on message, that part is already there and let the driver install continue. Restart and everything was working properly (STM listet now in SYSTEM).

Let me now, if that worked for you also.

P.S. The new Dell STM-Driver from 2019 did not work with my Dell XPS18! I have win 10 64bit Build 1903.

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

It is very unusual that the accelerometer driver can cause issues with audio playback.

I have been researching on this, let us try a few steps to narrow down the cause of the issue with Movies & TV app playback.

Method 1: Disable applications from taking exclusive control over the audio device.

    1. Right Click on speaker icon at the taskbar system tray. Click on Playback devices.
    2. Right Click on the playback device within the list of devices and select Properties.
    3. Go to Advanced tab. Remove the check from the box next to 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device'.
    4. Click 'Apply' and the 'OK'.
    5. Restart the PC.

Method 2: putting the PC in Clean Boot environment.

Disclaimer: Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after performing a clean boot on the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.

To perform a clean boot on the computer refer to the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows. When you are performing clean boot, please make sure that you uncheck Realtek SD audio manager services.

If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot to check which program is causing the issue.

Note: Please refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshootingto boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

Method 3: In case method 1 & 2 fails to resolve the issue, I would then suggest you to perform a repair installation of Windows. Refer the article Repair installation in Windows 10, as this will repair the corrupted Windows files and upgrade the PC to Windows 10 1903.

    We await your response.

thank you for getting back to me.

-The windows build is Version 1803(OS Build 17134.829)

-Online streaming also has stuttering although no where near as much(Tested on netflix and youtube), Initially, the stuttering was extreme but after turning off "Use hardware acceleration when available" it improved.

    • Some other things I have tried fixing these issues is going on CP and clicking on Internet Options. On advance settings, I selected "Use hardware acceleration when available"in Accelerated graphics. I also enabled "Enable 64-bit processes for Enchanced Protected Mode" in security. This did not work.

    Relaunch
