how to switch user without logging out?

I remember windows used to allow you to remain logged in while switching accounts  now there is no switch user option.

To enable or disable "Switch User" see this thread.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/95383-enable-disable-fast-user-switching-windows-10-a.html

    • Option 1 uses Group editor (only Pro editions)
    • Option 2 use regedit (Home and Pro editions).

Hi Hao. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Guardian Moderator here to help you.

Just go into the Start Menu to your Account icon at the top of the column above the Start button, click on it and choose the other Account's name to sign into it. This leaves your account open so you can go back and forth.

Otherwise you can Sign Out to password protect the account.

Hope this helps. Let me know.

To switch user click empty space on desktop so that none window isn't active and then press Alt+F4 to get menu from where you can select "Switch User".

Another option to switch user is press Ctrl+Alt+Del there is also "Switch User" option.

Did you click the Start button and go to the top of the column above it in Start Menu, click on your Account icon to look for the other account?

What did you click on to open the old Control Panel Accounts page? Did you choose Manage another account there to find the other account?

Ignore the Control Panel which is being phased out completely soon and has been replaced by the Settings app.

Go into Settings > Accounts > Family & Other People to either find or add the secondary account you want. Use the "Other" option unless you want to restrict children via Family Safety.
