Windows 10 Cannot create a System Restore Point

When I try to create a system restore point I receive an error message as follows:

There was an unexpected error in the property page:

Invalid cursor handle (0x8007057A)

Please close the property page and try again.

In addition, I cannot process a restore point, I get the same message.

I have reinstalled Win 10, keeping my installed programs and documents, but when the install has completed, I have tried to create a restore point, but I get the same error.

I would be very grateful if someone could assist and advise what I need to do in order to get system restore to work.

Thanks Jimmy

    Hi Smith,

Thanks for your prompt reply, it has saved me tearing my hair out!!!

I ran all of commands on DISM.exe, and all completed successfully, and found no problems.

Details of the command runs are list below:

    Windows PowerShell

Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Try the new cross-platform PowerShell https://aka.ms/pscore6

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

    Version: 10.0.18362.1

    Image Version: 10.0.18362.207

[==========================100.0%==========================] No component store corruption detected.

    The operation completed successfully.

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

    Version: 10.0.18362.1

    Image Version: 10.0.18362.207

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.

    The operation completed successfully.

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

    Version: 10.0.18362.1

    Image Version: 10.0.18362.207

     [==========================100.0%==========================]

    The operation completed successfully.

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Following the completion of the run, I re-booted the PC and attempted to create a restore point. When System Restore opened, I was able to open System Restore and view any saved restore points. I then attempted to create a restore point, and as soon as tried to create a System Restore Point' I got the following error message:

' There was an unexpected error in the property page:

    Catastrophic failure (0x8000FFFF)

Please close the property page and try again'

Closing the system restore program, and trying again, results in the same error.

Any further help you can give would be most appreciated. One thought I had was could this error be caused by one of the programs I have installed on my PC?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,

    Jimmy Goodwin
