Is the RST driver essential for windows startup.

If not, can I manually disable it to retrieve my curve of reliability at the top* as I've a daily crash of IAStorIcon since I've updated it from "Intel driver assistant" and not HP support.

*In waiting to get a new release of RST especialy made for OS 1903 this one remaining in test...

    Hi Madison,

You can uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology once you do not use RAID on your PC, with out any ill affect to your PC, while you are waiting for Intel to release a new update. You PC will continue to function as it always has . . .

    Ok, if you write:

If you attempt to do it improperly, given the impact this specific driver can have on your system/the way it alters your boot configuration, you may not be able to boot your OS after its removal.

You mean that it's really dangerous to disable it from services.

    Thank

I don't know what your 'curve of reliability' is, but whatever ...

If you don't have a RAID setup (and don't plan to have one in future) then you don't need Intel RST. You can uninstall it as you would uninstall any application. However, check with your computer manufacturer's technical support before you do this (or ask in the manufacturer's own community forum) because the manufacturer may have had a particular reason for installing RST on your computer.

Within RST there is a menu item that prevents RST from loading at startup. So if you want to keep RST, but not have it load at startup, which kind of defeats the purpose of having RST in the first place, just go into the RST menu and find the setting that prevents it from starting with Windows.

In any case, RST consumes a truly negligable amount of your computer's resources.

Please do not attempt to manipulate system services directly. That's like the matador telling the bull 'nyah nyah.'

    Hi Madison

Yes you do understand that correctly. Although this driver is not needed and can be disabled or replaced it is important set the steps be followed to the letter.

    Hi Madison

I am an independent advisor here to help

the Intel rapid storage technology driver is not necessary for you to use Windows 10. hello I will post a guide that shows how to remove or disable it. The guide was written for Windows Vista, 7 and 8 .1 but the steps should still be the same in Windows 10.
