Hotspot connecting but saying "No Internet Access"

I recently updated to Windows 10 1903, but every time I try to use hot-spot it says no internet access but immediately opens the browser and it goes to a Microsoft link, unfortunately only the browser would use the hot-spot internet other apps such as the store cannot and all other apps that require the internet to operate.

I asked my friends if there are experiencing a similar problem and everyone i asked is also have this problem.

I have tried running the trouble shooter but it has not solved the problem.

    Hi Mr.

    Thanks for the additional information.

Here are some additional recommendations I recommend you try:

    Option 1:

Uninstall your Antivirus utility such as McAfee, Norton - since it might be interfering with Mobile hot.

    Option 2:

Open Mobile hotspot settings (Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot)

    Turn on mobile hotspot

Under "Related Settings", click Change adapter options

Take note of which adapter is connected to the internet and which adapter is your mobile hotspot (typically named "Local Area Connection* [#]")

Right click the adapter that is connected to the internet and click Properties

    Go to the Sharing tab

Uncheck "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection". If it is already unchecked, skip this step.

    Click OK

Again, open Properties > Sharing for the same adapter.

Check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection"

(If you get a popup that says "Internet Connection Sharing is currently enabled...", click OK.)

Under "Home networking connection:", select the mobile hotspot adapter

    Click OK

    Option 3:

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand Network adapters

Right click then uninstall all virtual adapters

    Open Start then type: regedit

Right click Regedit then click Run as administrator

Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WlanSvc\Parameters\HostedNetworkSettings\

    Delete the following key:

    HostedNetworkSettings

    Restart then try again.

    Option 4:

    Run the Network adapter troubleshooter

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

    Scroll down, select Network adapters

    Click Run the troubleshooter

When complete, restart to see if it works.

If not, you can try updating both your Network adapter drivers or uninstall them.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand network adapters

Right click your adapter, click uninstall

    Exit Device Manager then restart

Windows 10 will re-detect them and reinstall them.

    Option 5:

Open a Command Prompt Window as Adminstrator

Run these commands and hit Enter:

(replace name and PW with the mobile HotSpot Name and Password from your screen capture)

    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=name key=pw

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

    Close Command Prompt

    Open the Settings App

Go to Network & Internet - Wi-Fi - 'Change adapter options'

Look for a new "Local Area Connection #..."

(It should show "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter" as the Adapter).

    Right-click this and select "Properties",

Select the "Sharing Tab. Check "Allow other network Users to connect through this computer's Internet connection"

    Hello,

Please run Network Adapter troubleshooter from Settings app > Update & security > Troubleshoot. See if it helps you.

If issue still persists, try to perform Network Reset:

    1. Open Settings app, click Network & Internet > Status > Network reset link.
    2. Now click on Reset button on next screen.
    3. In confirmation prompt appearing next, click Yes.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Mr

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Check if the hotspot connection is configured as a Metered connection.

That is likely why other apps such as the Microsoft Store cannot use it, since mobile hotspots tend to have limited data.

Click the Network icon in the Notification area

    Click Properties

Scroll down then toggle off Metered connection

    Hello

Thank you very much I check if the metered connection was on, but it has always been off, hence my problem has not been solved. Am experiencing this problem on mobile hot-spot.
