Print test page seems to work but does not actually print

I have a new Windows 10 (1903) machine with a USB-attached receipt printer (Ithaca BankJet 2500 for information's sake). I connect it using a USB printer port. It looks like it installs fine, but when I try to print a test page, it goes through the motions (you can see the "1 document in queue" momentarily and then it goes away). When I open the print queue, the test page shows up for a moment and then goes away (again, as I would expect it to do.)

The problem is, it will not actually print the test page.

I have the same printer set up on another similarly-configured machine. The test page prints fine. (I unplug the same printer out of one machine and plug into another and it prints fine on the second machine.)

I have tried rebooting the machine, logging on as an admin, restarting the print spooler, unplugging both the power and USB cable form the printer, change USB Ports on the computer... I'm at a loss!

Does anyone have any suggestions I can try?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bob,

I have been researching on this issue and it seems that the printer manufacturer has provided specific steps in installing the printer.

You may have to manually install the drivers provided by the manufacturer.

I would recommend you to uninstall the drivers for the printer from Device Manager.

    1. Press Windows + X and click on Device Manager.
    2. Expand or double-click Printers devices.
    3. Right-click on the printer in the list for bankjet, and then select Uninstall device
    4. Select Delete the driver software for this device, and then click Uninstall.
    5. Then, refer the steps and download the printer driver from https://www.transact-tech.com/drivers/bankjet-2500 which is in .ZIP format. Extract the drivers and save it in a folder.
    6. Then go to Devices and Printers, add Printer.
    7. Manually browse to the location of the drivers from the unzipped folder and install it.

For additional information please refer this article: https://www.transact-tech.com/drivers/bankjet-2500

Thanks for the post but I had already tried all of this. I have opened a ticket with our core provider (whom we bought the printer from) and they are stumped also. They are currently researching the issue.
