downloads folder sort order won't change

Hi everyone,

I just took the latest Windows 10 update on Tuesday, and suddenly my downloads folder isn't sorted the way I want. It appears the default is to sort by name in ascending order, and it looks like that's how it's selected to display, however it's still sorting files by date. How do I get my downloads folder to sort by name again?

I'm hearing that there is a bug in Version 1903 that requires setting View > Group By: to none. Can you try that in Downloads?

That's the way I thought it worked, but when I actually do that it won't work. When I click the header like you suggest, it works fine in other folders, but the downloads folder specifically will not change.

HI RC. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

This has always been as easy as clicking on the column heading you want to sort by, twice if you want reverse order.

To set defaults choose View tab then Sort by: and Group By:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to rate my post, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
