How to use built in mic to use as mic for voice recognition for Windows 10?

While setting up voice recognition, Windows asks you to select out of two options, 'use built in mic' or 'set up mic'.  I want to use the built in microphone for voice recognition.  When you select Get Started, a pop up advises that you need to set up your microphone first, yet using your built in mic is given as an option to use.  Please help. I want to use the built in microphone as the microphone for voice recognition.  How do I do this?

    Hi annie,

    try the following methods:

    Set up microphone

Type microphone in Windows Start Search box > Click Set up a Microphone > Select required type of microphone (for internal mic, select Others) > Follow the onscreen directions to set it up

Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

Run Hardware & Devices / Audio Troubleshooters

Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot >

    A. Click Hardware & Devices > Run the Troubleshooter

    B. Click Playing Audio > Run the Troubleshooter

    C. Recording Audio > Run the troubleshooter

    D. Speech > Run the troubleshooter

Take actions related to Audio Driver

Windows Key+X > Device Manager > Sound, Video & game controllers > Right Click on the entry below > Properties > Driver Tab >

    A. Roll Back - If Roll back driver is enabled, roll it back

    B. Uninstall - Uninstall Device and restart to reinstall it automatically

    C. Download and reinstall the driver from computer manufacturer's website

Hi Roshan, much appreciated, although it still won't allow me to use the voice recognition without installing mic.

Is the fact that I'm using a laptop have anything to do with this problem?
