Please help. I am unable to remove my microsoft account from my friend's Windows 10 PC.

Hello.

So my computer was unable to start, and whichever options I chose in the startup repair section (in Win10), it failed to fix the problem. I had a recovery CD so I reset his  PC using it.

After successfully reinstalling Windows 10, there came a 'setup your PC' screen (or whatever, I don't remember the exact name), in which I had to set some basic settings, connect to the internet, and whatnot.

Then, it asked me to sign in with my microsoft account. There wasn't ANY option to skip that step, so I decided to just login and remove the account once it was setup and ready to go.

So now when I go into settings>accounts>email and accounts and there I select my microsoft account and click on remove, It disappears at the time, but when I reopen the same page, it is still there. I am currently using a local windows account and none of the apps are signed in with my microsoft account, but the problem persists.

Please if anyone can give any solution....

    Nope, it isn't working.

See, I've already made a local account and I'm using it right now, but I want to permanently remove my microsoft account from windows. Whenever I go to settings>accounts>email and other accounts and then scroll down and select my account and select remove and say yes to the confirmation, and then reboot the PC, it is still there......

Also, my microsoft account is not displayed in netplwiz.

    Hello DragonFire3,

I am Matt, an Independent Adviser and a specialist technician. I would like to assist you with this and hopefully I can help you to resolve this issue promptly.

You could try following the information here to convert the microsoft account to a local account which should resolve your info. As it would be a lot to type please refer to the following link as it covers this topic really well https://www.isumsoft.com/windows-10/how-to-remo...

If the above is not working the fastest solution would be to create a new local account for your friend on windows 10, it will need to be an administrator account and then remove the account that has your microsoft account linked.

Firstly to sign out of a microsoft account (just incase you are doing it another way follow these steps)

    1. Click the Start button, and then click Settings.
    2. Click Accounts, scroll down, and then click the Microsoft account you would like to delete.
    3. Click Remove, and then click Yes.
    4. Reboot the computer..

If that does not work for you then create a new local account using the following steps.

    1. Press the Windows key + R.
    2. Type netplwiz, and then click OK.
    3. Click Add.
    4. Click Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended).
    5. Click Local account, type a username, and a password (if you'd like one).
    6. Click Next, and then click Finish.
    7. Login with the new account and use that to remove the original account.

    Problem solved... hopefully. :)
