Network Utilization?

So I've started using the Resource Monitor to keep tabs on my memory and network usage, and I've noticed that the "Network Utilization" is almost always at 0%.

So I did a little bit of testing with it; When I was playing a multiplayer game, in a Discord call, and watching a YouTube video, all while downloading a 1GB file, the highest I could get it to was 2%.

Is there any way that I can increase the network utilization? And if so, would this make my internet faster?

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Hello! I am an Independent Advisor, I would love to help you out!

The most likely scenario for this is that the internet plan you have (or the router) is slower then what your network card is capable of.

Most likely your network card is capable of 1gb/s. Most internet plans do not go this fast.

Do you know the speed of your internet service from the provider?

You can also go to a site like fast.com in order to test what speed you are getting.

Increasing your network utilization would not necessarily make your internet faster, that relies more on the service from your internet service provider as well as the speed of whatever server you are connecting to as well (to download files, discord servers, etc).

Hope this all makes sense and helps! Let me know if you have other questions about it, or if I need to clarify anything.
