What is Error Code 2 ?

I cannot install google Earth and over there they claim it's wholly an MS problem.

I have win10.  Latest version.  All up to date.

I get two different error messages depending which install I'm trying to do.

 0x80070057

and 'error code 2'

I have used MS install/uninstall trouble shooter.  No good. It didn't list GE as a prog I was trying to install. Perhaps if I could have put it on the list it might have done something?

I've used MS Safety Scanner.  It saw nothing.

Used MSRT and it saw nothing.  (seemed to be the same thing as above really).

I've run sfc /scannow

I've run DISM.exe /online/cleanup-image/Restorehealth.

For a while there I couldn't even install Malwarebytes to help with the search.  But then Malwarebytes Support Tool cleared that up and I got MBAM in and it sees no problems.

But it doesn't tell me what it did so's MBAM could install.   If I knew that then maybe I'd know what's stopping GE getting in.

At the moment I'm looking at 'code 2'  as the obstacle and I can't find any information on it anywhere on the web.

Can anyone help or perhaps direct me to where I could find some?

What OS build are you on?  Hit the Windows key, type winver, hit Enter.

    Or Windows key+r, winver, OK
