My integrated microphone/headset jack does not work - this happened after the windows 10 upgrade.

I have a DELL Latitude 5480. My machine was updated to windows 10 about 6 months ago - and now my integrated microphone/headset jack does not work. Prior to the upgrade, when I plugged my headphones in , a window prompted me to ask if I was plugging in speakers or speakers/headphones and microphone.

I have tried to update the drivers on my microphone, adjusted the privacy settings, tried to disable/re-enable my speakers/microphone jack - with no success.

    No Luck

was able to get working after I uninstalled the driver and re-started the machine - but after I unplugged my headphones  once and re-plugged them in - the sound/mic did not go to my headset - ie. it no longer worked

    I have a DELL - not a HP -

    Here is the msinfo32 info

    Hi DBA_12345

I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

    Windows Key+I > Privacy > Microphone

    1. Set allow access to the Micrphone on this device
    2. Allow apps to access your microphone - Make it ON
    3. Choose which apps can access your Microphone - If needed make required to ON.

    If above doesn't work -

Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

    1. Run Troubleshooters

Type Troubleshoot in Cortana > Click Troubleshoot >

    A. Click Playing Audio > Run the Troubleshooter

    B. Recording Audio > Run the troubleshooter

    C. Speech > Run the troubleshooter

    1. Microphone is not disabled and is set as default

Type Sound in Windows Start Seach box > Click Sound > Under Recording tab, right click on an empty space and select, Show disconnected devices and Show disabled devices > Select Microphone and click on Properties and make sure that the microphone is enabled > You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

    1. Set up microphone

Type microphone in Windows Start Search box > Click Set up a Microphone > Select required type of microphone (for internal mic, select Others) > Follow the onscreen directions to set it up

    1. Take actions related to Audio Driver

Windows Key+X > Device Manager > Sound, Video & game controllers > Right Click on the entry below > Properties > Driver Tab >

    A. Roll Back - If Roll back driver is enabled, roll it back

    B. Uninstall - Uninstall Device and restart to reinstall it automatically

    C. Download and reinstall the driver from computer manufacturer's website - If you face issue, let me know your computer make and model?

    1. Check out other steps in HP Guide for Microphone Not Working

    https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03421813

    1. If none works -To diagnose the issue, I would request you to provide following information -

    A. Windows Key+r > Type msinfo32.exe and Enter > Post the image here

    B. Also Windows key+x > Device manager > View (on top) > Show hidden devices > Expand Sound, video & game controllers > Double click on your audio driver to open Properties > Driver tab > Post the screenshot.
