I have an HP Elitebook 8560P laptop and want to replace the current Windows 7 Pro  HDD with  with a new HP clean HDD.  I then wish to purchase Windows 10 Pro from Microsoft and download it to a flash drive.  Will the flash drive containing the downloaded Windows 10 boot itself and install on the blank HDD?  The Elitebook has a Intel Core i7 2720QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and the SATA HDD is  500GB.

I would do a bit more research first.

HP supports XP > Windows 8.1 on that specific model number.

If you read those Microsoft's system requirements for 10, you will find that if you only go on them you will be sadly disappointed in performance.

You should at least double what they say.

Thanks, Bill.  I appreciate it very much.  I'll look at all the information and then I'll decide to either attempt it or just break down and purchase a desktop and perhaps a tablet.  Thanks again.
