Error code 0x80070022 in Windows 10: Copies some files but not others

Hello,

I have a problem with my Windows 10 computer when I try to copy files from my Panasonic AJ-PCS060G which is a P2 card reader (USB 2.0) for Panasonic Pro video cameras.

This is a recent problem, it used to work fine.  I am not aware of any program changes in the computer that is having this problem.

It still works fine on my old Windows XP computer and on my Dell Laptop.  These computers have no problem copying all of the files from the reader.

Here is the strange part:  on the Windows 10 computer it will copy some of the files but not all of them.

It will copy the .mxf files from the Audio folder

it will copy the .xml files from the Clip folder

it will copy the .bmp files from the Icon folder

and it will copy the .txt file from the root of the disk

but it won't copy the .mxf files from the Video folder.

This is not a size issue either, because the largest audio file is larger than the smallest video file.  The largest audio file is 51MB, and the smallest video file is 41MB.  They both have .mxf file types.  It will copy the audio file but not the video file.

I have reinstalled the Panasonic P2 drivers

I have tried this in Safe Mode

I have tried this in Clean Boot Mode.

I have tried copying them as a group, individually, the smallest file, the largest file, it doesn't matter, it won't copy them.

It is the same no matter what I have tried, it will copy all of the files except the video files.

It gives me the error code 0x80070022 "The wrong diskette is in the drive.  Insert %2 (volume serial number: %3) into drive %1." when it gets to the video files.

System specs of the computer that doesn't work:

Windows 10 pro

Puget Systems

Intel core i7  6850k  cpu@3.60Ghz  3.60 GHz

RAM  32.0 GB

64 bit operating system, x64 based processor

System specs of the computer that does work:

Windows XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 3

HP Workstation xw8200

Intel Xeon CPU 3.4GHz  3.4 GHz

RAM 3.00 GB

System specs of the laptop that does work:

Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1

Dell N5110

Intel Core i3-2310M CPU @ 2.1GHz  2.1GHz

RAM 6.0 GB

64 bit operating system,

I have searched the community but have not found any solutions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes USB 3.1 should be backwards compatible but I’ve noticed with some older devices it doesn’t work.

Good to hear the drive works on the older USB ports.

Are you running Defender or a third party anti virus?

Defender has controlled folder access which may be the cause of your problem, you can temporarily disable this while you transfer the files then enable it again.

Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.

Under Controlled folder access, select Manage Controlled folder access.

Switch the Controlled folder access setting to Off (or On.)

The file properties show nothing blocked.  Comparing the properties of one of the audio files that will transfer with one of the video files that will not transfer,

Both show - Type of file: MXF Video File (VLC)(.MXF)

Both show - Opens with VLC Media Player

Both show - Attributes Read-Only is checked

the only difference is the location:

    L:\Contents\Audio vs. L:\Contents\Video

There are 15 USB inputs on this Windows 10 computer.  Out of those 15 inputs, 3 happen to be USB 3.1 inputs.  Now USB is supposed to be universal, but apparently it is not universal if the content you want to transfer is in a folder titled Video.  This is totally nonsensical!  I moved the connection to a number of other USB inputs and the files in the Video folder transferred just fine, like they always had... but if I plug it into any of those USB 3.1 inputs, the files in the Video folder will not transfer.

Thank you for making me think about the connection itself.  I will do some re-arranging so that the open USB ports are not the USB 3.1 ports and move forward with life.  The mystery still goes on with what this problem is, however, we don't have to solve it.

Thank you for all your help!

    Hello Time Lady,

Back on the job here.  I looked at the settings in Windows Defender.  The Controlled Folder Access was turned OFF.  I tried turning it ON and then tried to copy a file from the removable P2 card Video folder to my computer hard drive, but still no success.  I also tried turning off Real time protection, Tamper protection and Cloud delivered protection but nothing has changed the behavior I am experiencing.  I wish it had!  I checked the drive capacities.  I have 203GB free on the C drive, 352GB free on the D drive, and 3.48TB free on the E drive, but I cannot copy a file from the P2 video folder to any of the hard drives.  I can copy ANY of the other files on the P2 card into any folder on any hard drive on the computer, just not any from the Video folder

    Still baffled.....

Also check the free disk space of the drive you’re moving the files to.

Right click on one of the files & choose properties & see if read-only or hidden is ticked, if so untick & try again.
