I have gone to my "Change Where New Content Is Saved" page in Settings in an attempt to change the location where my Pictures are stored. However, the drop down box is locked at C. In fact they are all locked on C. How can I correct this?

Let's use your Documents folder as an example:

    C:\Users\your user name\Documents

Ideally, you want to move this folder to:

    D:\Users\your user name\Documents  (doesn't need to be 'D' specifically)

After setting up this folder on your D: drive, return to your C: drive. Right-click on C:\Users\your user name\Documents and select Properties from the context menu. Now turn to the Location tab. Having already created the folder on your D: drive, you can click on the 'Find Target' button.

There are two things you want to accomplish:

1- Make the new folder (on the D: drive) the default folder for your documents going forward; and

    2- Move your already-existing documents from C: to D:

Note: After you do this, you will notice that the old folders still exist on C: even though they are empty. Windows keeps them there, in the unlikely situation that you are using old software that is hard-coded to work with the Documents folder in C:

Yes, I know. It's an interface anomaly.

For now, the best way to switch the default location for your Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos is via the Location tab. That works fine. I'll be glad to provide directions, if you like.

Ideally, you should store those in a separate partition.
