Microsoft remote display adapter was eliminated from the remote computer through the device manager and now when you try to connect to the remote desktop, only a black screen appears and the connection is disconnected after a minute. How to restore Microsoft remote display adapter of a remote computer (there is direct access to it now)?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern, as you are unable to update Microsoft remote display adapter of a remote computer.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to update the concern PC and it should install August 30, 2019-KB4512941 as it addresses an issue that displays a black screen when you use Remote Desktop to connect to a machine running Windows 10, version 1903. Along with the Windows updates, please update the display driver of the remote desktop.

If the issue persist after the update, then we would suggest you to uncheck the box beside Persistent bitmap caching in Remote Desktop Connection for the remote desktop.

Let me point you in the right direction, where you would get the appropriate help for this issue. I would suggest you to post your query in TechNet forum, where we have experts and support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on Remote Desktop connection to assist you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps

    Hello...

Something similar happened to me... I actually deleted the Microsoft remote display adapter while I was connected remotely.

I repeat: I deleted the Microsoft remote display adapter in the remote machine... Now when I connect I cannot see anything but the mouse pointer.

How can I restore this back to normal?

I tried the 3 different standalone installers recommended and I got the message "this update does not apply to your computer"

I installed Windows 10 last week so I would hope that it already had this August update included - but knowing Micorsoft they have broken something else in the meantime.
