I have loads of 'tmp' files being created hourly and find this very annoying. Only started happening in last 2 weeks.  Anyone know how I can stop these from being created?

    Hi Dave

We need a bit more detail to work out what is causing this . .

Where exactly on your PC are these files being generated?

Please provide the names of a few of those files and do all those files have a tmp file extension?

    Hi Dave

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Have you installed any new hardware or software since this problem started?

The following 'tw-bac' is said to be associated with Task Scheduler. i would look there to see if you have any random programs that might be using it to generate any of those temp files.

The recommendation is, they can be safely ignored.

You can configure Windows 10 to delete them automatically.

Click Start > Settings > System > Storage > Configure storage sense or run it now

Check the box, Delete temporary files my apps aren't using.
