My so-called HP Laptop :'(

MY HP laptop's weird keyboard:

Hi,

It is an HP laptop I have bought second hand and it is QWERTY.

Windows display language is English(United States) but I think/not sure, my keypad is Korean. Windows 8.1 and most of the keys are functioning the same as what is written on each key e.g. alphabet and numeric keys but some symbols are not correct as what is written on the keys. I want to make my screenshot keys work. I can not take a screenshot. With the snippy tool, I can but I want to know the keys too.so I googled and tried the following keys:

windows+prnt SCR, alt + blah and few more but it does not take any screenshot when I click keys and paste in MS word. SO I need to know what keys r screenshot keys on my keypad.

I'll tell u some of my keys and what is written on them; maybe u can guess my kay-pad style and figure out what keys r for taking screenshots:

1- On 1 of the keys a semi-colon is written and on top of the semi-colon a '+' is showing but when I press shift and this semi-colon key, it does not type a "+" instead it type a colon and the other key on its right side shows a colon and a star on top but when I click it, it types a comma and with shift key the double commas so I am confused what keys r used for my type of keypad to take a screenshot and the key on which "prt sc" is written has "home" written on top of it . So, could it be, its function is different compared to what id written on the key?

Plz spare my grammar mistakes but I am extremely confused about how to figure out what function each of the keys has and how to find it through windows 8.1 or some other way?

Not fair, Thanks for the HP link. Lots of markets here r selling second-hand laptops with the same price as the new ones and an inexperienced buyer is at grave risk, whether it is a laptop or household appliances.

    Thank  you for ur reply,

I am getting nowhere; I told u my regional language is English(UnitedStates). My keyboard is Qwerty and I think it is a Korean keyboard. I know nothing about Korean stuff. And I am not sure if it is Korean or not. So I've no idea how to find that out? I was telling u earlier about certain keys and their functions so  u could figure out what type of layout is on my keyboard and what each key is for as some of the keys are working differently to what is written on them and is the "prt sc" key is functioning as what is written on it or it is not the prt sc key? Some keys on my keyboard are :

1- The alphabet keys r typing the same alphabets as written on the keys; same for the numeric keys.

2- One of the keys has 2 symbols written on it. The bottom symbol says a semi-colon and the symbol on top of the semicolon is a (+) plus symbol. But when I click this key, it does type a semicolon but with the shift key, it types a colon and not a plus symbol.

3- On one of the keys, has a colon on the bottom and asterisk on the top, but when I click this key, it types a single quote( ' ) and with shift double quote ( " ).

4- One of the keys says a backslash( \ )(bottom) and an underscore(at the top)(not sure if it is an underscore or hyphen or a dash but is a little longer than the minus symbol ); so when I hit this key, it types backslash( \ ) and with shift key, a bar( | ). Moreover, this key says 3 symbols; 3rd one is in Korean or Chinese; not sue what this symbol is but it looks exactly like 3 with a little stylish font.

5- one of the keys, has 4 symbols, 2 on the right side and 2 on the left side. 2 symbols on the right are in a Korean or Chinese language and 2 on the left side are, an open square bracket(at the bottom) and open brace (at the top) but when I click this key, it does not display anything. It is frozen bcoz of I think some settings. And I don't know what are the current settings on my keyboard and what were the default settings and how to change the settings.

Plz spare my Grammar mistakes but I hope u understood what my confusion is all about?

So my prt sc key has 2  things written on it; bottom is prt sc showing and on top "home" is showing. So Is it functioning as what is written on this key or no bcoz I am unable to take a screenshot with keys? And what is my keyboard type and how some of the keys r working differently compared to what is written on them? And where to change it and view the current setting and all u know. Sigh... some of the keys acting differently, I didn't mention; it will get too long. Hope this is enough for u to understand.

    Regards

To capture the complete screenshot press the Windows Key + PrintScreen > it will be saved to the Screenshots folder that is created in the Pictures folder.

    Or use the Snipping Tool:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/13776/windows-use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screenshots

Capture part or all of your PC screen, add notes, save the snip, or email it right from the Snipping Tool window. You can capture any of the following types of snips:

    etc.

If the other keys a trying the wrong thing, you may have Regional Languages set wrong.

    Cheers.
