Our PC's in our office run all week with only log off at the end of the day. Every Monday we are asked to do a shutdown and not just a restart.

If there is an update sent out, will they both install the update and what is better to do?

Shutdown or Restart?

    Hello Jerry,

This is a good question!  It turns out that if you press Shift+Shut Down, the computer will install updates on the next boot.

Otherwise, Fast Boot is used and updates are not installed.  Fast Boot can be turned off but this might affect the boot time.

    Kind regards Noah.

    Hi SafetyJerry

It is better to perform a Restart . . .

Windows 10, due to the fast startup is counter-intuitive . .

When you shut down Windows 10, it copies the entire contents of RAM onto your hard drive, then when you start up again, it copies the contents back form the hard drive into RAM

When you restart Windows 10, it does actually shut down and flush the contents of RAM, this is, apart from updates, a good thing to do every now and then to stop the operating system from becoming slow and un-responsive . . .
