Thanks to both of you. And to answer your question about my oddball marriage of windows laptop and iphone/ipad... it's a 2 job thing. One job requires the ipad interface with client signature capture, etc. on their software only supported by ios; the other job is based with functions of the Office package and other things that come associated with a laptop (plus honestly I like the Windows/Microsoft laptop- it is what I have always known and it feels more comfortable to me). My iphone was a switch for work and now is my comfort for that type of device. Guess that's why I'm registered independent in a nutshell :) thanks for the help. I don't download just anything and I'm pretty careful with things but I sometimes worry that I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous... Norton keeps me pretty tight and I know to look for fake sights with missing letters or banners off a bit. Appreciate the help...
Norton, Microsoft Edge, and Windows 10
Hi, I am not a computer genius but I have a general question and I can't find an answer. I bought a Lenovo laptop last year preloaded with Windows 10 and windows security. I am a strong Norton advocate and already had the account so I downloaded Norton and know 2 security programs running simultaneously is a bad thing plus it slows down my system. I want my computer to start-up with Norton and to use Norton unless there is some reason with Windows 10 I am unaware of that makes it a better decision. So a 2 part question:
- How do I actually get Windows security to not start-up (It isn't visible on start-up apps so should I delete it?)
- How do I ensure that Norton is covering all areas. I have the highest level of Norton product.
Btw, I use Firfox and not Edge- Does this matter? And itunes. I really just want a super secure system and not be bound to the 10,000 microsoft products and tips and all that come with the branded microsoft stuff. I want a streamlined, fast system that is secure and interfaces well with ios because every other aspect of my life is ios based. Thanks.

2019-10-28T02:19:26+00:00 I'll second what DaveM121 already said. Norton is a very well rounded AV given that, 1. it is the full paid version which includes all the bells and whistles (which have all been enabled within the main options menu of the software ....the ones you want enabled, anyway), 2. it's set to boot with windows, 3. is kept running at all times, 4. is set to check for and update the database automatically on (at least) a daily basis, and 5. schedualled to run a scan every once in a while, then you should not have much to worry about.... although, as safe as an antivirus or antimalware program may be, it's only as safe and fool proof as the user is that's using it. If you think having Norton running on your system means it's okay to just go clicking on every random link and ad banner, opening every sketchy email and downloading every torrent you come across on the internet, Norton will help but most likely fail... quickly. You gotta be smart and know that Norton is there to catch you when you slip, but it definately doesn't make your computer invicible.
Though, the main reason I'm reiterating all this is to ask you a question....
WHY IN TARNATION DID YOU BUY A PC WHEN THE MAIN FEATURES YOU WERE LOOKING FOR ARE THE EXACT QUALITY CHARACTARISTICS THAT APPLE IS KNOWN FOR!?!?!?!?!

HA! ....Um, Dude. If that's what you want, theeeeeeen ...you should get an Apple.

Rest assured, you do not need to do anything, the Norton installer will automatically turn off the components of Windows Security that is is taking over, this happens without any user interaction and is designed to make sure your system is fully protected . . .
With regards to web browser, it does not matter what browser you choose to use, Norton will keep you protected . . .
