VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.

Hello,

I have been using Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager ver 6.0.4 on my ThinkPad P1 computer since about six months. Since about a month ago from today, the Ubuntu 18.2LTS mounted on the VM Manager failed to load citing the above error message. Can you please advise if this could be a consequence of a regular windows 10 update? If so, could you please advise on how to resolve this problem.

A similar problem has occured when i have tried mounting an OpenBSD Unix OS, iso image. The iso image downloaded is i386 type.

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Regards,

SS

if that is not possible or does not resolve it

make sure that virtualization is turned on in the bios of the host

    Hi shashwat_s

check that hardware acceleration is turned on in virtualbox

    open virtualbox,

select the Ubuntu machine and open settings

on system, select the acceleration tab

under hardware acceleration tick enable VT-x/AMD-V

click ok and try booting the machine
