I have Microsoft Outlook with Office XP. It won't run on W10 without Outlook Express 4.01 or greater. I understand OE won't run on W10 so how do I run my version of Outlook?

    Hi there Rod,

Outlook Express is a discontinued email and news client included with Internet Explorer versions 3.0 through to 6.0. It is also formerly known as Microsoft Internet Mail and News.

Outlook Express is a totally different application from Microsoft Outlook because they don't share a common codebase.

Older versions of Office such as Office 2007, Office 2003 and Office XP are not certified compatible with Windows 10 but might work with or without compatibility mode. Please be aware that Office Starter 2010 is not supported. You will be prompted to remove it before the upgrade starts.

In essence, you will have to upgrade your Office package to one of the greater versions such as Office 365.

I hope this answers your question, let me know if you need further assistance.

Outlook and OE are two completely independent products. There are no dependencies between them. You need to upgrade Office XP to a more recent version, at the very least to Office 2010.
