Hello I'd greatly appreciate guidance/support on the following matter:

  • I have a Microsoft Teams free account.
  • I receive notification e-mail saying there is a mention of my name (my e-mail address with my company domain) .
  • I click on it and it takes me to that page where you select accessing the chat via web browser or the app if you have it already installed (see attached). 124910-doc-3.jpg
  • I click on the yellow highlighted area mentioning open the desktop app.
  • I don't see the chat.
  • I see the chat when on the web browser.

Question: Where is the chat on my desktop app!?

Looking forward to getting advice/support on this matter asap.

    Hi @omi.yuriko ,

Have you first of all downloaded the Teams desktop application and installed it on your computer?

The chat can be found on your left-hand side of your Teams desktop application, as shown in the screenshot below:

There have been reported cases where the Chat button has disappeared or is missing, you can then try to log out and log back in and see if it helps.

Here's a few other discussions about the Chat button missing:

    Hi @omi.yuriko ,

Are you using a personal account or a guest account of a O365 organization?
Based on my tests, the free accounts ( personal or from a company) are all correctly working and have the chat button.

Could you please try to login your account from other devices? Please test both on desktop client and mobile app.

Or if your account is a member of a O365 tenant. You could check the policies that Leon refers.

    Best regards,
    Lou
